Or maybe you just want to work with Nordic Cuisine in a booming industry, where new restaurants pop up every month and the demand for trained professionals is higher than ever? Either way, this is the place to start.
As a trained chef, you will have numerous possibilities: a wide range of jobs within the food and produce industry in Denmark, but also the opportunity to work abroad – both as a trainee and after you finish your education.
International Class for Culinary Arts is a 20-week introduction to professional cooking, corresponding to the Danish Grundforløb for gastronom. During this education you will learn different cooking skills, first aid and food hygiene, work with seasonal produce, sustainability and ecology while at the same improving your Danish. The program caters to students who are passionate about cooking and wish to work in the food industry as trained chefs or caterers, but lack sufficient language skills to enroll in the Danish foundation program.
All classes are taught in English, except for Danish language classes, which are mandatory for all students who do not have documentation for Danish at level E.
When you complete the program, you will be able to seek an apprenticeship as a chef trainee and enroll in the main culinary program (hovedforløb). Please note that only the foundation program is taught in English. The main culinary program is taught in Danish.
Applicants are expected to have documented basic skills in Mathematics (primary school level) in addition to Danish language skills enabling you to sit for an exam in Danish at level E at the completion of the 20-week education.
You must have a Danish/Nordic citizenship, a permanent Danish residence permit or be in the proces of obtaining a permanent residence permit.
